I’ve been spurred on by Style On Track to create my own list post of things that inspire me.

I love… my new Nokia N82. Rob upgraded to an N95 a few months ago and fell in love with it’s GPS capabilities. I decided it was high time I upgraded as well - my most recent phone was a Sony Ericsson w800i, and I’ve had it for about two years. I’ve always been a Nokia girl at heart, so returning to the fold wasn’t too hard - especially as the N82 has a 5 mega-pixel Carl Zeiss camera lens and a Zenon flash, as well as an additional lens on the front of the phone for video calling. I love that it has super-fast GPS, a really good web browser, and it’s shiny and silver. I’m fickle.

I love… Italy. My first encounter with Italy was in February of 2007, when Rob and I holidayed in Rome and Venice. The food, the shopping, the architecture, the scenery - I fell head over heels. I’m going back in a month’s time to Rome, Sorrento, Capri, Positano and Amalfi.

klimtwarhol.jpg

I love… Klimt and Warhol. There is an Andy Warhol exhibition on in Brisbane currently, and it’s fantastic. Not only do they have some of his most iconic works on show - such as the Marilyn images, and his Campbell Soup Cans - but they’ve also managed to secure his portraits of Dolly Parton, Blondie and Judy Garland, amongst others. They also have photobooths which convert your image into Warhol-esque colours which you can then email to yourself. As for Klimt, whose gold-leaf works have always fascinated me, I’m rubbing my hands with anticipation because the TATE Gallery in Liverpool currently has his works on exhibition.

roisinfeist.JPG

I love… Roisin Murphy and Feist. Both are kick-ass songwriters and performers, and both seem to enjoy putting together really off-the-wall videos for their songs. Roisin has a new album out at the moment (’Overpowered’), and Feist has been winning awards left right and centre lately. Have a listen to Roisin Murphy’s ‘Ruby Blue’ and Feist’s ‘Brandy Alexander’.

narcisso.jpg

I love… Narcisso Rodriguez For Her. If I could eat this perfume, I would. It’s soft and musky and has an under-note of vanilla and florals, and I always get compliments when I have it on. I wear it all year round, and it clings to your clothes after you’ve worn it, giving you a pleasant surprise whenever you put on a cardigan or jacket.

gregory.JPG

I love… Philippa Gregory’s Henry VIII novels. One of them is presently showing as a film, ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’, in most countries around the world. Personally I think Eric Bana was an awful choice to play Henry VIII (he doesn’t even have the famous Tudor red-blonde hair?!), and I haven’t seen the movie so I can’t tell you how well they’ve adapted the movie from the book (and the book from historical fact). The books themselves are well written and many of the events have a factual grounding in history, and Gregory has a real knack for presenting one particular event from many different character’s point of view. I recommend reading ‘The Boleyn Inheritance’ or ‘The Constant Princess’. If you want to read them in order of historical occurrence you would need to start with ‘The Constant Princess’ (Catherine of Aragon’s story), followed by: ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ (Anne Boleyn), ‘The Boleyn Inheritance’ (Anne of Cleves), ‘The Queen’s Fool’, (Mary I), and ‘The Virgin’s Lover’ (Elizabeth I). She has a new book coming out soon and I’ve turned all gushing fan-girl in anticipation.

witchery.jpg

I love… Witchery’s new Autumn-Winter collection of muted greys, mulberrys, browns and creams. I love Witchery regardless, but their new collection is an irresistible combination of tailoring and soft fabrics, subtle detailing and modern styling. Plus they have a shoe range to die for.
